about

Mars is the second smallest planet in the solar system and is the fourth planet from the Sun. The surface area of Mars is roughly the size of all the landmass of Earth put together minus the oceans.

Named after the Roman God of war, Martius, and ruled by the Greek God, Aries, this dusty dry wilderness appears in rusty red hues. The red planet is called so due to the abundant presence of iron oxide on its surface.

Mars was known as the "fire star" to ancient Chinese astronomers, and scientists are still burning with questions regarding the Red Planet. Even after dozens of spacecraft have been sent to Mars, much remains unknown about that world.

Numerous missions to Mars have revealed a host of features on the Red Planet that suggest it was once warm enough for liquid water to run across its surface. These features include what appear to be vast oceans, valley networks, river deltas and minerals that required water to form.

Since the study of physical features of Earth is called Geography, it is fitting to call the topographical study of Mars, Aerography. This album is an imaginary soundtrack about a doomed expedition to Mars by an astronaut crew. I remember and honor all the brave astronauts who lost their lives in the name of science, progress, and mankind.
